Life can get pretty rough sometimes. When you feel like you're stuck in the same ways every day of every week it can be difficult to keep on going. The thing most people do after a while is just stay in bed and be depressed. I am definitely one of those people! When the weather gets colder I feel more and more worthless and useless every day, while life seems to go on the same way it always does. Being stuck in the same place doing the same things is one of many fears I have. But staying in bed and just be depressed isn't the solution to anything! So what do I do then?
Well I personally like to plan fun stuff ahead.
That means that I will always have something to look forward to!
For example I have a Halloween party coming up this weekend that I'm very excited about.
So every morning that I wake up early, feeling like I was run over by a truck, I remind myself what I have coming up this weekend. That usually puts a smile on my face (:
And when even thinking about my free weekends doesn't do the trick, I remember the bigger events.
Yes.. I even have bigger plans than just my weekends to keep me going :P

The first thing that I'm super excited about is my Christmas gift exchange with the lovely Ursula (:
We met through bloging and we keep in touch through e-mail. It was her idea to do this, since we live in different countries and of course I had to say yes. We found out that we have loads in common and I get excited over every e-mail I get from her ^^ I'm very thankful that we met online!
Then I also have Carnaval coming up. Okay this isn't until Februari next year, but I start looking forward to next year as soon as the last day is over. Carnaval is a Dutch "holiday" and the real thing is a Christian Holiday. But of course things have changed over the years and nowadays Carnaval is more comparable to Halloween. Only this lasts 5 whole days and nights and it's pretty much a whole bunch of people dressing up, getting drunk and party their asses off. People over here either love it or hate it and I clearly love it.
I dress up and have an amazing time with a bunch of friends and don't stop 'till I drop.
Please do pay attention to the creeper in the back! |
Another thing I can look forward to is my 10 year anniversary with my bestest friend in the whole wide world! We met in high school and we sort of just stuck together ever since. And it might sound a bit weird, but she is one of the very few people that I've known for a long time and that still doesn't annoy or bore me.
I have that with very few people, because after a long time you really get to know each other and by that time I mostly see their true colours and not all of them are pretty. But her colours have become more beautiful with every year I know her, because she's grown so much and she's become and amazing girl.
Anyways we've planned years ahead that once we hit the 10yr mark we would celebrate by going on holiday together. It will be our first time going together, so we might end up not being friends once we go back home... But I don't really think that'll happen! If you read this love, I'm super proud and blessed to be your best friend ♥ (:

So to make a long story short, it's important to have something to look forward to. Whether they are real plans or just dreams, but without these things you might shrivel away and become one of those grumpy people that never had fun in their lives. Filled with regrets and wishes that can't come true.
And if all fails there is one last option: Go out and get completely wasted. I don't recommend this on a daily base but every once in a while this is allowed as well (:
Love,
Nena
